Story:

My name is Alifa. This is a steel bracelet. It represents a love story of two people who met each other while working together in Libya. It is the symbol of a migratory journey from the city of Tripoli to Zuwara in Libya and from there to Tunisia and finally Palermo, Italy. It is a gift from a person who is very important to me. It was a gift from Awa Awa, a girl from Sudan who I met in Tripoli where I used to work. There, little by little we became friends and then fell in love. We had plans for our future. We planned our trip to come to Europe and to live happily together but, unfortunately she didn’t make it. She died at sea. This object is important for me because it reminds me of all the time that we spent together. It reminds me of our songs, the plans that we did. That is all that remained from her. Other memories are ugly, like her death. I chose this object to keep her alive in some way even if she is dead.
