Story:
Mery is from the Dominican Republic and arrived in Greece in 2014.
My youngest daughter gave me a bracelet; she told me it’s to remember her when I’m not with her. It says her name, Naira, on it. The other one was given to me by my eldest daughter, for the same reason. Two years ago something happened and I was looking at them and I didn’t remember them, I didn’t remember their names. I always have these with me because I am sometimes afraid of forgetting them again.
The third is from a church near here, which I go to when I’m stressed so that I remember that God exists. I get strength from this.
Mery tells us that she now lives in Haidari with her husband, whom she met online while still living in the Dominican Republic.
I have never visited since I left because the tickets are expensive and now I have to be here. My mother-in-law is sick and I need to be near her, and my father-in-law died of cancer eight months ago.
