Rebloom Festival is a tribute to the artistic vein that keeps pumping against all odds. A space of reclaiming artistic identities, giving them space to re-exist and, therefore, to Rebloom.
Courage, risk-taking, resourcefulness, self-confidence, resilience – the same qualities that led people on the move safely to the new land – are punishable in environments that expect them to adhere to stereotypes of being devastated, grateful and docile. Rebloom celebrates defiance of these roles and images giving space to artists to pursue their identities no matter how far from the safe mainstream of power and gendered hierarchies they lie; it opposes a life in survival mode, characterised by precariousness, anxiety and repetitiveness, where creativity perishes.
The following items belong to artists who, at the time of Rebloom 2: A Migrant Artistic Space against Gendered Dominance, were living in Istanbul, and who had experienced displacement in the past.
